Ohhh So You're Like, Artsy? A Conversation About Sacred Catholic Art

Let’s be real—life moves fast There’s laundry, dishes, work, groceries, nights out with friends, and bath nights for your babies.  We can get so wrapped up in our day to day that it’s easy to miss the beauty that’s right in front of us.

But in this week’s episode, we’re hitting pause. We sat down with the lovely Madeline Larson to talk all things Catholic sacred art, and it felt like a breath of fresh air.

Before you scroll past this episode thinking this sounds fancy or unreachable, stay with us. Madeline’s story is actually super relatable for all Catholic young women. She started out studying science, never planned on studying art, and yet... God had other plans.

Her love for sacred art has grown into something so beautiful, and in our chat, we unpack how art can actually draw us closer to the Lord, even in the middle of normal, everyday life.

As we were chatting, we got into this idea of Visio Divina, which is just a quiet, prayerful way of looking at art. Think of it like Lectio Divina, but with your eyes. It's not about "getting it right" or having a degree in art history. It’s about slowing down and letting God speak to you through beauty.

We talked about how the art we surround ourselves with actually matters. It doesn’t have to be expensive or “high-end”, it just has to mean something. A thrifted print, a child’s drawing, the crucifix above your door- these things remind us of who we are, and who we belong to.

More than anything, this conversation is an invitation to notice again. To open your eyes to beauty. To make space for the sacred, even in the chaos.
